The Red Deer Boxing Club
The Red Deer Boxing Club was formed 20 years ago, in 1988, by present team manager, president, and head coach, Robert Carswell.
Rob Carswell started his experience with boxing at the age of thirteen. He trained and competed with Taber, Lethbridge, and Calgary. After retiring as an active boxer, Rob became involved in the coaching aspect of boxing, coaching at various locations across Alberta. Rob became involved in the Alberta boxing organization as an official, referee, judge, and provincial board member.
Under Rob's tutelage, members of the Red Deer Boxing Club have achieved numerous accolades. Amongst those achievements are: countless Bronze, Silver and Golden Glove Championships, dozens of Provincial and Western Canadian Championships, over 10 Canadian Championships, Junior Olympic medalists, Olympic attendees, Commonwealth Games attendees, 3 Junior World Championships, 4 Senior World Championships, and others.
Perhaps the most important achievement for Rob and his club are the excellent values and work ethics taught to every athlete, competitive or not.
